Chemical free bug spray

Well, it’s finally starting to feel like summer here in Minnesota! Hot, humid and buggy! I’ve been waiting to make a chemical free bug spray that is safe for the whole family. I also made a homemade bug away candle to keep out on the patio. If you’re looking for a natural, non-toxic way to keep the bugs at bay, try this simple recipe out!

Chemical free bug spray

Ingredients /Supplies

1 oz Amber Glass Spray Bottle

1/2 oz distilled water

1/2 oz Witch Hazel

5-7 drops Plant Therapy Insect Shield Essential Oil

Using a Funnel, pour the above liquids into an amber glass spray bottle. Give the bottle a gentle shake before each use. The Witch Hazel helps disperse the oils so they don’t settle to the bottom.

*This is for the 1 oz spray bottle, you can make the batch bigger depending on the size of your spray bottle. I wanted a smaller one that I could easily tuck into my purse or diaper bag.

Insect Shield Essential Oil contains the following blend of oils:

Citronella, Eucalyptus, Cedarwood, Lemongrass, Lavender, Litsea, Tea Tree, Patchouli & Catnip.

If you don’t have this particular oil, you could also substitute it with just Citronella or a combination of the above.
