How to make your own almond milk

 

I’ve been wanting to make my own almond milk for the longest time and finally I did it and I couldn’t believe how easy it was! The best part about it is that you have total control of what goes in it. If you look at the label on most store bought milks, there are still a lot of preservatives, additives and unknown ingredients in there and who knows how that may be harming your body.

How to make your own almond milk

Ingredients

1 cup whole raw almonds
4 cups filtered water
3/4 tsp organic vanilla extract

Step 1: Soak your almonds overnight in a bowl full of water.

Step 2: Rinse the almonds the next day

Step 3: Put almonds and 4 cups fresh water (not the water you soaked with) in a blender

Step 4: Blend until it looks like milk (I did it for about 2 minutes)

Step 5: Using a nut bag or cheese cloth, pour the milk and strain it. (I didn’t have either, so I used a flour sack dishcloth which worked just fine too)

Step 6: Squeeze out any excess milk once it’s all strained

Step 7: Pour into glass jar and enjoy! This should be good for 7-10 days in your fridge.

You could also jazz it up and add cinnamon, pure maple syrup to make it sweeter, cacao powder to make it chocolaty or my sister in law even recommended using coconut water, now that would be good!
